Skan Workshops
Skan workshops are an effective and complementary expansion of individual sessions. While certain deep processes require one-on-one attention, much of our emotional life has developed within the context of groups.
From early family life with siblings and extended family, to school, friendships, partnerships, spiritual communities, and work environments — we are shaped in relationship with others. Because of this, some emotional patterns and wounds that form in group contexts may not fully appear in individual sessions and can be challenging to heal outside of a group setting.
The therapeutic group field is especially conducive to discovering and transforming these relational patterns. Many participants find that insights gained in individual sessions can be explored, embodied, and deepened further when experienced in a supportive group environment. Skan groups offer an invaluable field for experiential learning and help translate new discoveries and behaviors into everyday life.
In Skan workshops, the same Reichian principles used in individual sessions are applied to the living “body” of the group. Practices may include:
expressive movement and dance
partnered breathing exercises
group breathing processes
individual sessions within the group field
streaming theater
and a wide range of creative, body-based explorations
Healing through conscious interaction with others in a structured, supportive, and dynamic environment offers a powerful creative and expressive experience. As we come together to play, to meet honestly, and to be emotionally present with one another, deeply transformative processes can unfold.
Skan workshops are typically offered as weekend intensives or as a series of evening classes. Because trust develops over time, the group field naturally deepens as participants continue meeting together, allowing both individual and collective processes to unfold more fully.
